Dr. Alex McDonald is a parent, family physician, and educator. The son of an elementary school teacher, Alex grew up in Woodstock, VT, and overcame early educational challenges related to dyslexia.
As a result, Alex is passionate about public education and its integration with personal and community health. In particular, Alex believes reading is foundational to becoming a productive and contributory member of the community. He deeply believes that where someone learns, lives, works, and plays has more impact on their health than any medication he could prescribe.
He is committed to ensuring that Claremont builds on its long history of educational excellence.
If elected to the CUSD board of trustees, Alex aims to use his clinical and medical expertise, along with his health policy experience, to address health disparities resulting from institutional challenges.
Alex currently works at Kaiser Permanente and is actively involved in medical education and professional organizations. He resides in Claraboya with his family and enjoys various activities like running, cycling, and cooking.
