Rachel Forester is in a tight race for city council against a 20-year incumbent who has grown weary and unproductive.  Whatever her opponent may have done for Claremont in the past, he is now stagnant.  He refuses to meet with pro-housing and tenant groups like Inclusive Claremont and Claremont Tenants United -- denigrating them as "lobbyists."  He has obstructed efforts to make Claremont housing more affordable, throwing up obstacles to Larkin Place, and presiding over a council that, until the Baseline project, supported no affordable housing in Claremont since Courier Place more than a decade ago, despite growing need in the community.

By contrast, Rachel Forester has demonstrated leadership on this issue of critical importance.  She has been a leader in Inclusive Claremont and Tenants United, fighting to prevent renovation evictions, to implement rent stabilization guidelines, and to enact anti-harassment protections.

With our help, Rachel will win this election and provide Claremont with a sorely needed fresh perspective.  The latest returns show that 9% of district one voters have cast their ballots -- and that Democratic voters outnumber Republican voters by over two-to-one so far.  To win, therefore, her Republican opponent must poach Democrats -- ones that don't know his party, his record, or reflexively support incumbents.  Our job is to call those voters who haven't voted yet, inform them, and prevent ticket-splitting.

The clock is ticking.  Please join us Sunday, 11:30am to 1:00pm to call them.  We'll train you -- we'll feed you well -- and you'll have fun doing it.
