Public Banking: Putting OUR public money to work for OUR public priorities

Steven Sittig has been Convener of the Public Bank Pomona Valley Study Group for almost four years, and a Regional Director of California Public Bank Alliance. He has been an educator for 35 years, now retired. He continues as Director of the Observatory at the Webb Schools.

Dr. Laura Burgis is president of The Human Values Center (HVC), a nonprofit public benefit corporation delivering education and training to optimizing human potential. The HVC serves higher education, government and business to foster social-economic-ecological wellbeing and healthy community cultures. Multi-sector Leadership development and community development is at the heart of the Center’s contributions to raising consciousness and supporting co-creative processes for positive change.

Dr. Burgis also serves as visiting faculty at the University of California, Santa Cruz, Crown College, Center for Values, Applied Ethics and Technology.

Don founded Hands-On History in the Bonita Unified School District, serving San Dimas & La Verne, and co-founded the Career & Technical Education Center (CTEC) at Fairplex. He also founded Cultural Awareness and Social Inclusion (CASI) in La Verne, an active committee creating programs and dialogue to bring people closer together that may have outdated and discriminating views. Don served on the La Verne City Council for 15 years, the last 11 as the elected Mayor and is a Navy Veteran, having served six years with the last four on a nuclear missile submarine in the Pacific.

Members and guests are welcome to arrive at 6:30 for a potluck
